IceClear® HD

Heavy Duty / Pre-Diluted
Glycerin Antifreeze / Coolant / Heat Transfer Fluid

IceClear HD glycerin antifreeze / coolant / heat transfer fluidDESCRIPTION
IceClear® HD is a patented biobased, ready-to-use, non-glycol coolant / anti-freeze / heat transfer fluid which combines highly refined glycerin certified to ASTM D7640 and the industry leading corrosion inhibitor package (NAP FREE; No Nitrites, Amines, or Phosphates) to create the first non-glycol coolant / anti-freeze of its kind in the world! This is simply the safest and most environmentally friendly engine coolant / antifreeze / heat transfer fluid available.

PERFORMANCE
IceClear® HD meets the requirements of ASTM D7714 (Glycerin Base Engine Coolant for Automobile and Light-Duty Service) and ASTM D7715 (Standard Specification for Fully-Formulated Glycerin Base Coolant for Heavy-Duty Engines). For industrial heat transfer purposes, we also meet ASTM D1384 (which is actually part of the above listed testing). For a more complete test listing, please view the data sheet or click the green bar below.

Our state-of-the-art, non-nitrated corrosion package, provides outstanding extended protection against liner pitting and corrosion of steel, copper, brass, solder, cast aluminum, and cast iron. IceClear HD lubricates pumps and valves, provides excellent scaling resistance, is fully compatible with gaskets, seals, elastomers and other non-metallic pump and engine parts, offers a freeze point of -31° F, burst protection to -50° F. IceClear® HD provides up to a 350,000 + mile change interval (7000 hours) in properly maintained engine systems.

USDA BioPreferred Label 98%SAFETY/ENVIRONMENT
IceClear® HD is the leader in quality, safety and environmental concerns. HD is a certified USDA Biobased Product in the USDA BioPreferred® Programand is NSF logoNSF listed (HT2). IceClear HD is readily biodegradable, non-toxic, non-hazardous and has a neutral pH. Glycerin is considered “GRAS”, (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA (Federal Food and Drug Administration).

APPLICATIONS
Originally designed for industrial and environmentally sensitive coolant / anti-freeze, heat transfer and secondary refrigerant applications, IceClear® HD can be used in virtually all gasoline, diesel and natural gas engines and other applications such as:

• Automotive/Fleet
• RV's
• Marine/Boat
• Boilers and other Closed Loop Systems
• Geothermal Systems
• Floor Heating Systems
• HVAC
• Directional Drilling Fluid
• Hydrostatic/Pressure Testing

IceClear® HD can be diluted for most non-automotive applications to achieve desired results. Some applications, such as geothermal, require specific information regarding turbulant flow. Click here for a list of flow rates in various dilutions of IceClear® HD at various temperatures through various size geothermal pipe to achieve minimum turbulance (Reynold's number of 2500 minimum).

FLUID TESTING
HD testerBrix MeterIceClear® HD is a glycerin based product, DO NOT use testers designed for glycols. Freeze point range can quickly be determined by a special specific gravity type tester (pictured left) available from Orison or more accurately by a Brix refractometer (Brix pictured right). For automotive appliations, recommended drain and recharge with IceClear® HD if Brix value is less than 37.0 as this indicates the product has been diluted by at least 20%. A conversion chart showing Brix readings and freeze point is also available from Orison.

HD Test StripsWe also offer a bottle of 50 custom test strips (left) which are a quick and easy way to identify levels of inhibitor, freeze point and pH in the field. Simply dip the tester in IceClear HD and compare the color coded results on the label. These test strips are specifically designed for IceClear HD. Do not use glycol testers to determine freeze point protection.

WHAT ABOUT MIXING FLUIDS
Although no negative effects are expected, mixing antifreeze/coolants is not recommended due to varying freeze point depressants and corrosion inhibitor technologies which leads to difficulties determining actual freeze point protection and corrosion inhibition properties. We suggest using only IceClear® HD in the system.

OUTSTANDING BENEFITS AND FEATURES:

The chart below is supplied as a guide for diagnostic / maintenance purposes. The values are calculated values and are only approximations. IceClear® HD is ready-to-use and not to be diluted (for automotive applications) as the result would weaken the corrosion inhibitor package. Note: Diluting this product more than 14% with water may be subject to bacterial contamination.

MAINTENANCE DIRECTIONS - Automotive
1. Use straight, DO NOT DILUTE.
2. Drain cooling system completely* and flush with HD COOLING SYSTEM CLEANER to remove scale & rust build-up. Use only IceClear® HD in the system and fill only after system has been completely drained and flushed. Do not mix with other coolants / anti-freeze / heat transfer fluids or chemicals.
3. Use ONLY CHEMICAL FREE FILTERS.
IceClear HD Extender4. Check fluid level on regular maintenance schedule. Top off with only undiluted IceClear HD if system is low.
5. Test fluid for freeze point levels every 50,000 miles, 1500 hours or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Recommended drain and recharge with new IceClear HD if Brix value is less than 37.0 as this indicates the product has been diluted more than 20%.
6. IceClear® HD lab analysis is available through Orison. Add IceClear HD Extender (shown right, available below) every 100,000 miles or as Orison identifies per test strips and/or lab analysis; whichever comes first.

*NOTE-even after draining/ flushing cooling system, residual water may remain in the block. Be sure to check with tester after filling to determine HD has not been diluted too much. If necessary, drain and refill.
